A Simple Trick: Habit Stacking
One of my favorite ways to integrate new habits is habit stacking—pairing a new habit with something you already do.
For example, I want to get morning sunlight on my face and in my eyes, so instead of waiting, I take my dog for a walk early in the morning.
One of my clients wants to improve her balance, so she practices balancing drills while brushing her teeth and putting on her shoes.
Creating change takes energy, effort, and consistency—but the simpler, the better. The less you have to think about when you'll do something, the more likely you are to follow through. Stack your goals onto existing habits and watch how your life shifts.
Try These Daily Regulation Drills
I put together a short video of some of my favorite regulation drills—practices I do daily. These drills activate key cranial nerves (facial, trigeminal, vagus, glossopharyngeal), which support brainstem function and help regulate the body.
