“Own Your Impact.”
A coach recently said this to me—and it hit hard.
Own your impact.
I’ve been in this field, running my own business, for over 20 years. And like any long-term relationship, it’s had its seasons.
There have been moments when I’ve felt all-in, fully aligned with my purpose… and others when I’ve wanted to close up shop and take a long, quiet hiatus. Ever been there?
Some of us push harder when things get tough.
Some of us stay the course.
And some of us call it quits—because sometimes that’s what’s needed, too.
I guess I’m someone who stays. I’ve stuck with it through thick and thin.
And like anyone in a long-standing profession, I’ve faced burnout—more than once.
For years, my coping mechanism was to keep learning, keep doing, keep “developing.” (Don’t get me wrong, I love learning—but the constant push to be better, do more, know more… it’s exhausting.)
Eventually, I started giving myself permission to pause.
And then my body demanded it.
I had no choice but to slow down. To listen.
That’s when this phrase landed differently:
Own your impact.
When you're caught in the swirl of your own life—doing the work, helping others, learning, juggling—it’s easy to lose sight of your reach.
To forget that what you do matters. That your presence matters.
That your words and energy ripple out far beyond what you can see.
I’ve started really listening to what people tell me.
Letting it in.
The thank yous.
The “I saw your video and it inspired me.”
The “I feel so much better after our session.”
The “I was talking about you at dinner last night...”
It’s easy to brush those moments off or move on too quickly.
But they’re reminders. Proof of impact.
So I’m learning to pause, take it in, and say thank you.
And I invite you to do the same.
Notice how you change a room just by walking into it.
Notice how your words affect the people around you.
Remember—you may be making a difference in rooms you’re not even in.
So own it.
Own your presence.
Own your magic.
Own your impact.
